Alchemists Workshop is a non-profit theatre company headquartered in Henniker, New Hampshire. Our purpose is to serve communities and the people who live in them by doing performing arts programs that both educate and entertain. We have several active programs to help us achieve our mission. These include:

  • Henniker Youth Theatre (theatre camps and workshops serving area youth)
  • New Hampshire Young Playwrights’ Workshop (an annual workshop to identify and encourage young playwrights)
  • Youth Stimulus Program (we hire 12 or more young people ages 18 to 24 to both learn about the performing arts and practice those arts)
  • Co-producing with a variety of companies (This summer we’re doing ANNIE with Hillcat Summer Theatre and next Fall new one acts at Manchester Community College.)
  • A Commissioning Project to support dramatists as they bring new works to the stage (Currently we are working with Melanie Yergeau,Tom Dunn and Steve Schuch in developing new plays and musicals about Ocean Born Mary and The Little Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe.)
  • A Film Program that includes learning about film making as well as producing short films (one of our works was shown at the SNOB 2008 Festival in Concord, NH.)
  • A web site featuring New Hampshire playwrights and their work

Alchemists’ Workshop is supported by grants from The NH Department of Education, NEFA, The McIninch Foundation and New Hampshire Charitable Foundation.

We were the winners of the 2008-2009 National Children’s Theatre Foundation Small Theatre Award.
