By: M & D Productions - Vagina Monologues: February 2010

M & D Productions in North Conway, New Hampshire has been offering Eve Ensler's international hit, Vagina Monologues, for several years around V-Day (Valentine's Day) as benefits for a number of women's programs in Northern New Hampshire. A local writer and director, Stacy Sand, decided to add to the 2010 production by seeking New Hampshire writers to write their own monologues in the style of Eve's ground breaking work. six new monologues were chosen by Stacy and they were artfully interwoven into the February 14th and 15th production. Here are four that were written for that production.

Bio: Suze Hargraves was born in Massachusetts and finally came to life while living in The Bronx from 1999-2005. She notes that her single most important life skill is her resilience. "Life," she says, "requires resilience. I'm one of life's cockroaches. Too tough to kill, too dumb to just lay down and die." Humor is her saviour and has been for as long as she can remember. Her influences are as varied as the woman herself counting among them Picasso, Erma Bombeck, Gloria Steinman and Georgia O' Keefe. Suze has no children other than the many nieces and nephews that fill her life with inspiration. Currently, she lives in Northern New Hampshire and spends her time sketching the beauty of the mountains around her and writing stories about errant women who push their men off them.
